Life at Eight Wire is always exciting. We love the variety our work offers us and strive to deliver the best, no matter what the task. The real beauty of what we do lies in the dedication we commit to finding the best possible solution to each project we undertake.
Below is a portfolio of some of our recent work. It’s a showcase of the specific services we provide – both online and offline – and a nod to our clients who we love working with. We also update this page with news and developments from the Eight Wire studio.

Client: Picnic Cornwall
Our solution: E-commerce website and branding
URL: www.picniccornwall.co.uk
We’ve recently had the pleasure of working with the owners of Picnic Cornwall, an exciting new deli and takeaway service in the heart of Falmouth.
Picnic approached us for assistance with their launch and we worked closely with them to deliver a strong, bold brand identity that reflects the quality of the food the business offers. We also liaised with the store's interior designer to help develop the look of the finished store.
To initiate Picnic's online presence, we created a stylish e-commerce website which reflects the modern classic stylings of the store interior and allows customers to order online and then have the food delivered straight to their chosen destination.

Our solution: E-commerce website and accompanying marketing

Regular visitors to the Eight Wire website will know that we like to share all the latest about the exciting projects we're involved in. The work we've been carrying out for one client, however, has been so in-depth that we haven't found the time to shout about it before now.
The St Eval Candle Company, which produces luxury handmade candles from a farm in rural Cornwall, selected Eight Wire to put together an extensive marketing project that included the design and delivery of an ambitious new e-commerce website in time for the busy Christmas period.
The resulting site, built in Magento and WordPress, offers customers a streamlined buying experience and includes features such as a product rating system, customer wishlists and a separate trade log-in area.
Eight Wire also put together a comprehensive marketing campaign to support the launch of the new site during the latter half of 2012 and this has continued through to 2013 with work including new product brochures, email marketing, social media development and targeted marketing around key dates including Valentine's Day and Mother's Day.
Our latest innovation is an Easter egg hunt with a difference on the St Eval Candle Company website – join the hunt by clicking here.

We're proud to announce the launch of the first dedicated website for Falmouth Classics, a classic boat event that dates back 64 years.
Eight Wire designed and built the site, which offers up-to-date information on the three-day event including a full programme of activities, in its capacity as Falmouth Classics media partner.
The site, built in WordPress to offer unparalleled content flexibility, also allows competitors to sign up for the regatta and associated social events online via an automated booking system.
Falmouth Classics, which dates back to 1949 and first took place in its current guise in 1989, has traditionally taken place as a single race during Falmouth Week in August. This year sees it expand to three days of dedicated classic boat racing and traditional song thanks to a new link with the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival.
We're delighted with how the site has turned out and feel it's the perfect springboard for the new-look Falmouth Classics regatta. Take a look for yourself at www.falmouthclassics.org.uk

Client: West Cornwall Youth Trust
Our solution: WordPress website design and build
URL: www.westcornwallyouthtrust.org
When the West Cornwall Youth Trust came to Eight Wire for advice on creating a website that would offer flexibility and an increased capacity for attracting visitors we specified a WordPress design and build.
Our web team delivered a user-friendly and eye-catching new site that incorporates elements of the previous website’s look to ensure continuity for repeat visitors.
We wrote the new site’s copy with search engine optimisation in mind, including keyphrases that are relevant to the trust’s target audience.
The WordPress system allows the West Cornwall Youth Trust committee to quickly and securely update the site themselves as and when they require.

We're delighted to announce that Eight Wire won the Commitment to Graduate Development category at the recent Excellence in Business Training Awards 2013. It's a huge honour to have been given the award, especially considering the strength of the other shortlisted nominees.
We're proud to employ some of Cornwall's most talented graduates and the impact they've had on our business has been immeasurable. Eight Wire has gone from strength to strength with their help and in return we'll continue to provide them with the training they need to develop their skills further.
This award marks a wonderful start to 2013 for Eight Wire and we're confident that this is just the beginning of a year to remember.

It's the second week of January and Eight Wire has hit the ground running at the start of a busy and exciting year.
As part of our commitment to assisting Falmouth Tall Ships Association, we’re involved in promoting the visit of the Dutch brig Mercedes this Easter. Mercedes visits Falmouth offering hands-on sailing to all comers and tickets for the day-sails are selling quickly.
We’re also thrilled to finally get confirmation that Falmouth will play host to part of a major international tall ships race in 2014 – which will fill these waters with interesting and historic vessels from around the world.
As though that weren’t enough, 2013 will see a great development in Falmouth Classics – a traditional sailing event that is set to grow from one day to a glorious three-day event running in alliance with Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival running from June 14 to 16.
If 2012 will be remembered as our 'olympic' year, then 2013 promises to be a classic.

We'd like to extend our best festive wishes to everybody as we prepare to close the Eight Wire doors this afternoon for the Christmas break.
It's been a wonderful year for us with a team that’s bigger and more enthusiastic than ever. We’re also looking forward to an amazing 2013.
We'll be back in the office from Wednesday, January 2 and we look forward to catching up with you in the new year.

We're thrilled to announce that Eight Wire has been shortlisted in the Commitment to Graduate Development category at the Excellence in Business Training Awards 2013.
The success of any business lies in the quality of its staff and we're pleased to say we have a team to be proud of, many of them graduates. Indeed five of our eight-strong team joined us via the Unlocking Cornish Potential scheme, which helps graduates to secure employment in Cornwall.
Our graduate staff have made a significant impact on the company and we continue to do everything we can to ensure their development matches the potential we saw in them from the outset. To have that highlighted with this nomination is a huge honour.
The award winner will be announced at a ceremony in Newquay on January 25. We’re overjoyed even to be nominated. It's about the best Christmas present we could have hoped for.

Having worked with L&R on a number of projects over the past four years, we were able to quickly establish a vision for the site that captured the essence of the company and the work it carries out.
L&R lovingly made bespoke products are the star of the show with a portfolio section displaying stunning images of previous projects in situ including doors, windows, staircases and assorted furniture.
The website also includes a testimonial tagging facility which allows L&R to add new client feedback – or any other new content for that matter – to the site at the click of a button from any web browser thanks to the easy-to-use WordPress content management system.

We're proud to have have a long-standing relationship with the Royal Duchy Hotel and were delighted to be asked to design and manage the printing of the four-star hotel's 2013 tariff brochure.
Our design team created a fresh look on a high quality paper which retained the sense of quality and tradition that runs through everything it does. The brochure incorporates impressive images of the hotel taken by Cornwall photographer Sam Morgan Moore in shoots managed by the Eight Wire team.
The result is a great-looking brochure that features information on the hotel's luxurious rooms, award-winning restaurant and high quality leisure facilities.

We're delighted to announce that Eight Wire account and marketing manager Michele has been nominated for a prize at the 2012 Hub Awards.
The Employee of the Year award recognises under-30s who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to have a positive impact on their business.
Michele, one of only three nominees, certainly fits the bill having played a huge part in attracting major new clients and managing some of our most exciting (and demanding) projects over the past 12 months.
She has brought relentless energy and an innovative approach to her role since joining last year so we feel this recognition is well deserved.
The award ceremony, organised by Cornwall networking group The Hub, takes place on November 29 at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay. Good luck Michele!

Birthday candles twinkled in the Eight Wire office this week as we celebrated our eighth anniversary.
Since starting out in 2004 as a two-person business, our agency has grown to a team of eight with expertise in a variety of design and marketing services suited to businesses of a wide range of sizes and styles.
Our growth has been helped in no small part by Cornwall’s network of business support agencies including Unlocking Cornish Potential, Partner to Succeed and Grow Cornwall which have each played their part in assisting our expansion over the years and for that we are very thankful.
But the people we really have to thank are the businesses in Cornwall who have chosen us to help with, or manage, their marketing over the last eight years.
It’s a real privilege to be celebrating this landmark in helping Cornwall businesses to reach new potential customers. Helping other businesses to grow is still as rewarding today as it was on day one and we think our general enthusiasm for the projects we work on is there for all to see.

After some anticipation, we are proud to announce to fellow food-lovers that the new website for one of our favourite restaurants in Falmouth, Oliver’s, is now up, running and ready to explore.
The site, with its strong imagery and vibrant colours, was designed and built by our team to reflect the personality of the restaurant’s husband-and-wife owner/managing team, Ken and Wendy. Similarly, the website content emphasises head chef Ken’s values and his dedication to sourcing only the freshest local ingredients for his creations.
We hope you will agree that the site, complete with sumptuous images captured by Cornwall food photographer, David Griffen, now gives justice to, and fittingly highlights, the quality of dishes served at Oliver’s and the talents of Ken and Wendy. Don’t forget to book up early.

Client: Preston Goldburn
Our solution: PR campaign highlighting cutting-edge legal work
URL: www.prestongoldburn.com
Continuing to grab the headlines is one of the hardest aspects of a PR campaign. The key to making your news appealing to the newdesks is to ensure it is well conceived, well planned, your release is well written and gets to the right people at the right time.
Preston Goldburn's Henry Preston speaking about his work helping Penryn College to become an academy one year on was just the ticket to get him a page lead in the targeted Falmouth Packet. The fact that the release had an image ready to use with it helped the editing team find a prominent place for it.
Client: Sam Morgan Moore Ltd
Our solution: WordPress website design and build
URL: www.sammorganmoore.com
Our design team loves having great images to work with so it's a real pleasure to have been asked to make a new website for one of Cornwall's leading photographers and videographers, Sam Morgan Moore.
The WordPress site is, of course, entirely updateable by the client and is seamlessly integrated with Sam's moving image via HD feeds from Vimeo.
A simple design with a little deliberate roughing at the edges, the site captures the feel of Sam's approach and allows him to display the quality of his work.
Client: Preston Goldburn
Our solution: PR campaign highlighting cutting-edge legal work
URL: www.prestongoldburn.com
When Preston Goldburn asked Eight Wire to help with their regular PR output, an initial meeting soon showed there was much that the Falmouth solicitor's firm had to shout about.
Our release about how Tim Goldburn had successfully won a settlement for a client in a medical case was timely as it coincided with new legislation that will in future make it impossible for claimants in a similar position to tread the same path.
The release gained half a page of coverage in the Cornishman newspaper and extensive reuse online. Click here to read more.

Today we're working with Cornwall food photographer David Griffen to capture the unique ambience of Oliver's the Eatery in Falmouth – one of Falmouth's best restaurants.
The Eight Wire web design team are looking forward to playing with all those scrummy food images. As you might imagine, our snap of David at work here doesn't quite do the shoot justice.
Managing a photo shoot in the front window of a busy Falmouth High Street location has its own set of challenges – even a local traffic warden was stopped in her tracks by Ken Symmons' fabulous food creations.
Watch this space for news of the launch of the new Oliver's restaurant website due to go live soon at www.oliversfalmouth.com where you will be able to see more of Ken's incredible food creations.
Additional information: http://www.tallshipsfalmouth.co.uk/
It's not just people with focused business-heads who benefit from the marketing magic of the Eight Wire team. Every now and then we have the chance to dip our toes into the waters of not-for-profit organisations doing good work at the heart of the community around us in Cornwall.
One such group is Falmouth Tall Ships Association – these are the people who work tirelessly, without pay, to continue Falmouth's historic links with some of the world's greatest sailing ships.
The association's work stretches from assisting ships from ports around the workd in visits to the port of Falmouth to encouraging local people to go sailing on the ships, and to arranging for Falmouth to host the start or finish of prestigious tall ships races that invigorate the port and offer a welcome shot in the arm for Cornwall's economy.
A CHANCE TO GO SAILING (if you're 16-25)
• There are still limited places to sail aboard an amazing ship, the Gulden Leeuw, which will set sail from Falmouth on July 21 on a fabulous voyage through Europe, taking in the waters of the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Germany. The trip is heavily subsidised by the FTSA for local people aged 16 to 25. Click on the FTSA website for more information.

Client: Cockwells Modern and Classic Boatbuilding – Duchy Motor Launches
Our solution: Creative marketing including website and illustration campaign
URL: www.duchymotorlaunches.co.uk
Congratulations to the team at Cockwells who have been nominated for the Excellence in Marketing award as part of the Cornwall Business Awards.
Working with the inspiring team at Cockwells on the launch of the Duchy Motor Launches brand has been particularly rewarding for Eight Wire as they have been keen to tread new ground with confidence and determination.
Timings meant the campaign had to begin before the first boat had even been completed. In liaison with University College Falmouth, we commissioned illustrator William Grill to give a flavour of how the retro-styled Duchy 27 would look, represented in the style of a 1930s holiday poster.
Being boaties, we also got to interview a living legend in the form of Peter Nicholson, of Camper and Nicholsons renown, who spoke highly of the Duchy 27's design heritage from a first-hand perspective. The website went live in time for the boat's launch by HRH the Princess Royal.
Check out the awesome photography by Sam Morgan Moore on duchymotorlaunches.co.uk.
Client: Lord Lieutenant's Fund for Youth
Our solution: WordPress, content managed website
URL: www.youngandtalentedcornwall.org
With a shiny new brand in place the Lord Lieutenant's Fund for Youth only needed a professional-grade website to put it in front of those who need to know about it.
The site conveys the message of the phenomenal work that the charity does to promote talented young people in Cornwall through feeding small grants into their existing support networks.
Launched at a special event at Truro and Penwith College, in May 2012, the site offers information about the achievements of supported Cornwall young people as well as an opportunity to enquire about funding – and also a new place for businesses who wish to contribute to the fund, to get involved.
Client: Port of Falmouth Sailing Association
Our solution: Printed events programme and calendar
URL: www.pofsa.co.uk
2012 promises to be an amazing year for the sport of sailing in Falmouth with the J-Class Regatta, Pendennis Cup and the Finn Gold Cup which, in Britain's Olympic year, is expected to see local celebrity Ben Ainslie battling for the trophy.

The PoFSA calendar is distributed in sailing clubs and other venues around the Falmouth area.
Client: Lord Lieutenant's Fund for Youth
Our solution: New logo and strapline to communicate brand values
URL: www.youngandtalentedcornwall.org
April has seen the launch of a new brand and logotype for the Lord Lieutenant's Fund for Youth, a charitable organisation dedicated to helping talented Cornwall youngsters achieve their potential in an activity in which they already excel.
In line with the organisation's ethos of engaging and encouraging young people to pursue their dreams, the logo was designed with a dynamic flowing energy to characterise the pursuit of a difficult-to-reach goal.
Approved by a committee including the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Col Edward Bolitho, it incorporates a leaping figure and a star motif that can be used throughout the organisation's printed material and digital marketing.
The brand is launched with a new headline that explains more about the people the organisation is aiming to help.
Now is the time to take advantage of the new Facebook timeline feature to promote your businesses. The new Facebook timeline for business is now standard however some businesses are yet to make the most of it.
This nearly screen-wide banner is a great branding opportunity. The best-looking cover images are designed to the right size (851 pixels wide and 315 pixels tall).
Rules dictate that you can’t have your website, contact info, calls to action, discounts or price information on the cover. You may, however, use your company strapline, quotes or names of people in your photo. The profile picture keeps the same functionality but is often cropped awkwardly by default.
Designing to the exact size will make it look best. To celebrate the new opportunity, Eight Wire is running a special offer for designing your new Facebook cover image and profile pic, suitable for the timeline, for £60. It's an offer we'll run throughout April. Click here if you'd like to talk to us about Facebook marketing.
We’re delighted to announce that Eight Wire account and marketing manager Michele has been officially recognised by Google for excellence in online marketing.
Michele is now an official Google Analytics Qualified Individual having passed the search engine giant’s rigorous exam. The qualification backs up her extensive experience with the software, which offers an invaluable insight into how well websites are performing.
What this means for our clients is that we’re better positioned than ever to offer expert advice and an in-depth analysis of existing websites and online marketing efforts in general.
Eight Wire founder Sara is delighted with Michele's success. "There are few people in Cornwall that have attained the Google Analytics qualification so to have one of them in-house is a huge boost for us. Effective interpretation of the data provided by the software can mean the difference between a floundering website and one that truly takes off.”

Drawing on our in-house experience in journalism, digital filming and internet marketing, we filmed and edited the short marketing movie and uploaded it to the network's website via YouTube to ensure it will be well optimised. Client: Compliance Solutions for Lawyers
Our solution: Website design
Compliance Solutions for Lawyers has a new professional look, created by Eight Wire's in-house team. Nicola Ellis, partner in this specialist legal firm, approached Eight Wire looking for a professional and recognisable brand for her new business.
From Nicola's initial ideas, our designers put down a set of conceptual ideas and font suggestions, then drilled these down to final designs for the client to choose from. The final brand elements have been used to design stationery and the Eight Wire web team is currently designing an on-brand website.
We’re delighted to welcome graphic designer Katie Puremont to the Eight Wire team.

Client: Cockwells
Our solution: Securing media coverage
The 2012 Tullett Prebon London Boat Show proved a major success for boatbuilder Cockwells with the sale of two Duchy 27 motor launches valued in excess of £300,000. Naturally, managing director Dave Cockwell was keen to shout about it.
Eight Wire's PR team identified that the success represented a shot in the arm for Cornwall's leisure boat industry as it emerges from the recession with Cockwells taking on two new shipwrights as a result of the sales.
The editor of the Western Morning News agreed, sending a photographer along to Cockwells to capture a unique image for its prominent coverage of the story. Business Cornwall magazine and the Falmouth Packet also featured the news – the latter running it as its main Business page story.
A variety of online media also picked up the story, adding to the positive publicity for the Mylor Creek-based boatbuilder.
Eight Wire developed the Duchy 27 launch campaign in 2011.
Client: Partner to Succeed by YTKO
Our solution: Media relations and user engagement
Eight Wire's in-house writing team and social media experts spent three months promoting the Collaborate Cornwall event through traditional and new media platforms including regional publications, radio interviews and a social media campaign.
As well as facilitating a live tweet desk during the event, we introduced some touches that would improve engagement such as cookies with the event's twitter tag iced-on. Eight Wire managed the photography (Toby Weller) and podcast (Kernowpods) teams and provided design and print for additional conference collateral.
As the publicity campaign swung into action the conference team soon reached the goal of 150 delegate registrations and then raised it to 200 – a target that was also achieved.
