Google’s Pirate update
In October, Google rolled out the latest update to its search ranking algorithm following mounting concern that the web search giant could do more to help content owners combat the problem of piracy and copyright theft.
The Google filter was updated and it has had a significant effect on organic search results as you might imagine. We’re still monitoring the effects of the changes but the latest advice is that if you don’t own any of the images on your website or, more importantly, if Google thinks you don’t own some of the images on your website, expect your site to drop in ranking. This brings up interesting questions regarding company logos, pictures of famous people and landmarks, etc.
